Pupcakes!

Inspired by Bakerella and CakeSpy, I created my own version of the tiny cupcake...a pupcake. I was in the middle of making dog biscuits when I decided that I could practice making some mini cupcakes, in preparation for mini cupcake pops which I plan to make this week for the Scrapbook Royalty Royal Slumber Crop.

I think the little "cakes" came out quite well. I made some that looked like Cuppy from CakeSpy, and made a peanut butter and bacon topped one, and a cream cheese topped one that Grommet loved.

They are so sweet!! Do you have a recipe? We just got a dog, and I'd love to make these!

Eee! The head cakespy herself! :)

I used a recipe for "Fido's Rewards" by Karen Mintzias, but I modified it slightly, I will paste it below, but I used 1/3 cup of oil instead of margarine and at the end, it was still a bit crumbly so I added 1/4 cup extra warm water. I found that the dough formed nicely when i held it in my closed fist for a few seconds before pushing it into the fondant mold (from Bakerella's directions). Just a caution, if you have a smaller dog, these may be too hard for such a small mouth, so it might be good to make a smaller amount or refridgerate the dough and not make them so hard, or make them smaller...Grommet really has to chew them on her back teeth.

Thanks!

Title: Fido's Rewards
Categories: dog biscuit
Yield: 10 servings

3/4 c hot water or meat juices
1/2 c powdered milk
1 ea egg, beaten
1/3 c margerine
1/2 ts salt (optional)
3 c whole wheat flour

In a large bowl pour hot water over margerine. Stir in powdered milk,
salt and egg. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time mixing well after each
addition. Knead 3 to 4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to
make a very stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2 inch thickness and cut
into bone shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 325
degrees for 50 minutes. Allow to cool and dry out until hard. Makes
approximately 1 1/4 pounds. Costs approximately $.25 per pound.
